شُكْر
This verse invites us to reflect on Allah's blessings and to respond with gratitude.
وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا جَنَّـٰتٖ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَأَعۡنَٰبٖ وَفَجَّرۡنَا فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلۡعُيُونِ
And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs.
Quran, Yaseen 36:34
In this verse, Allah reminds us that He created gardens of palm trees and grapevines, and caused springs to gush forth. These blessings are signs of His goodness. The following verse clarifies that these fruits are for people to eat, and it ends with the question: 'So will they not be grateful?' Thus, contemplating blessings naturally leads to gratitude. Every day, we enjoy food, water, and many other blessings without always noticing them. Becoming aware of these gifts helps us develop a grateful heart towards Allah.
Today, before eating or drinking, take a moment to say 'Alhamdulillah' (praise be to Allah) while thinking about the source of these blessings.
