ظُلْم النَّفْس
This verse reminds us that every person is responsible for their choices.
وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنٞ وَظَالِمٞ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِينٞ
Among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.
Quran, As-Saaffaat 37:113
After blessing Abraham and Isaac, God mentions that their descendants fall into two groups: those who do good and those who wrong themselves. This shows that goodness is not hereditary; each person acts according to their own will. So we can ask ourselves: which group do we want to be in? Every day, our actions shape our answer. Being unjust to oneself means choosing what harms us, while righteousness elevates us.
Today, do one good deed toward yourself, such as speaking a truthful word or taking a beneficial pause.
