الْحَقّ
This verse addressed to Prophet David teaches us a universal rule of justice.
فَٱحۡكُم بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ
So judge between the people in truth and do not follow [your own] desire.
Quran, Saad 38:26
Allah reminds David that He has made him a successor on earth. He asks him to judge between people with truth, meaning with complete fairness. He also warns him not to follow his personal desires, for that would lead him astray from Allah's way. In our daily lives, we often have to settle disputes, even small ones. Whether in family, among friends, or at work, we can apply this principle: decide with justice, without letting our preferences or personal interests influence our judgment.
Today, before making a decision that involves others, ask yourself: am I judging fairly or am I following my desires? Strive to choose justice.
