نِعْمَة
This verse invites us to recognize that every favor comes from Allah.
ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلۡنَٰهُ نِعۡمَةٗ مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمِۭۚ
Then when We bestow on him a favor from Us, he says, "I have only been given it because of [my] knowledge."
Quran, Az-Zumar 39:49
In this verse, Allah describes man's attitude when adversity touches him: he calls upon Allah. But when Allah grants him a favor, he attributes it to his own knowledge or merit. Yet this favor is a trial: will he thank Allah for it? In our lives, we receive many blessings: health, knowledge, wealth. Sometimes we attribute them solely to our own efforts. This verse reminds us that every favor comes from Allah. Realizing this helps us stay humble and grateful to Him.
Today, identify one favor you have received and say: "Alhamdulillah, thank Allah for this favor."
