ظَنَنتُمۡ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَعۡلَمُ
This verse reminds us that Allah knows all our actions, even those we think are hidden.
ظَنَنتُمۡ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَعۡلَمُ
But you assumed that Allah does not know much of what you do.
Quran, Fussilat 41:22
In this verse, Allah mentions those who commit wrong deeds thinking that their ears, eyes, and skins will not testify against them. They assumed that Allah was unaware of much of what they did. This verse brings together the idea that our own limbs will testify and that Allah knows everything. Today, we might sometimes act as if Allah does not see us. But this verse invites us to realize that nothing escapes Him. This thought should help us act with sincerity and righteousness, even in our most private moments.
Before acting, ask yourself: "Would I do this if I knew Allah was watching me?" Then choose the action that pleases Him.
