عَفْو
This verse reminds us that despite His power, Allah pardons much.
وَيَعۡفُ عَن كَثِيرٖ
but He pardons much
Quran, Ash-Shura 42:34
In this passage, Allah speaks of ships at sea. If He willed, He could destroy them because of the sins of their occupants. Yet, He pardons much. This verse brings together divine power and mercy: Allah can punish, but He often chooses to forgive. This reality invites us to humility. We make mistakes, but Allah does not always treat us according to our faults. Reflecting on His forgiveness encourages us to be lenient with others, for we ourselves benefit from His clemency.
Today, forgive someone who has wronged you, silently or in words, remembering that Allah pardons much.
