غَفْر
This verse describes an essential quality of believers: avoiding major sins and forgiving.
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡفَوَٰحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُواْ هُمۡ يَغۡفِرُونَ
who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive.
Quran, Ash-Shura 42:37
In this verse, Allah associates two attitudes: staying away from major sins and immoral acts, then forgiving when angry. Forgiveness is not weakness but a sign of faith and self-control. In our daily lives, we may be provoked or hurt. This verse invites us not to let anger push us to misbehave, but to choose to forgive, as the believers described here do.
Today, if someone makes you angry, take a deep breath and forgive them, even inwardly.
