انْتِصَار
This verse describes a quality of the believers: they defend themselves when they are wronged.
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَصَابَهُمُ ٱلۡبَغۡيُ هُمۡ يَنتَصِرُونَ
And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves
Quran, Ash-Shura 42:39
Verse 42:39 is part of a series of qualities of the believers. It mentions that they defend themselves when injustice strikes them. The following verse (42:40) clarifies that the retribution should be equal to the offense, and that forgiving and making reconciliation is even better. Thus, self-defense is permitted, but it must remain proportionate. In daily life, this means we can stand up for our rights when faced with injustice, without going beyond limits. We are not obliged to endure everything in silence, but we must avoid excess.
Today, if someone wrongs you, respond calmly and proportionately, without overreacting.
