عَفْو
This verse teaches us that forgiving and reconciling is an action whose reward is with Allah.
فَمَنۡ عَفَا وَأَصۡلَحَ فَأَجۡرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ
But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah.
Quran, Ash-Shura 42:40
The verse first acknowledges the right to respond to injustice with an equivalent sanction. Then it opens a higher path: to forgive and restore peace. This action is not lost; its reward is entrusted to Allah Himself. In our daily lives, we can choose to let go of a grudge, reach out after a conflict, or mend a broken relationship. Forgiveness does not erase the injustice, but it elevates us and entrusts our matter to Allah.
Today, identify someone you are in conflict with and take a concrete step toward reconciliation, even just a message of peace.
