انْتِصَار
This verse clearly affirms the right to defend oneself after an injustice.
وَلَمَنِ ٱنتَصَرَ بَعۡدَ ظُلۡمِهِۦ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ مَا عَلَيۡهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ
And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame].
Quran, Ash-Shura 42:41
Verse 41 of Surah Ash-Shura declares that the one who defends himself after being wronged bears no blame. It is not about excessive revenge, but a proportionate response. The previous verse (42:40) speaks of equivalent punishment, and the next (42:42) clarifies that blame only falls on those who commit injustice and tyranny. Thus, self-defense is legitimate. In daily life, this means we can set boundaries and respond to aggression without guilt. We are not obliged to accept everything. However, verse 40 also mentions that forgiving and making reconciliation is a higher path, with a reward from Allah. We have a choice.
Today, if someone wrongs you, respond calmly and firmly to defend your rights, without overstepping limits.
