ظُلْم
This verse clarifies who bears responsibility for wrongdoing.
إِنَّمَا ٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَظۡلِمُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَيَبۡغُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّۚ
The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right.
Quran, Ash-Shura 42:42
The verse associates two faults: wronging people and causing disorder on earth without right. It does not blame those who defend themselves, but those who transgress. The immediate context mentions retaliation after injustice, then patience and forgiveness. In our daily lives, we may be tempted to take advantage or ignore others' rights. This verse reminds us that true strength lies not in crushing others but in upholding justice.
Today, identify one person you might treat unfairly (colleague, relative, stranger) and act toward them with fairness.
