شُكْر
This verse reminds us that the sea is a gift from Allah to us.
وَلِتَبۡتَغُواْ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ
so that you may seek of His bounty and perhaps you will be grateful.
Quran, Al-Jaathiya 45:12
Allah has subjected the sea so that ships may sail upon it by His command. He invites us to seek His bounty, that is, His blessings, through this means. The verse associates this favor with gratitude: being thankful to Allah for what He gives us. In our daily lives, we can reflect on the conveniences we use without thinking, such as transportation, food, or water. Recognizing these blessings helps us appreciate Allah's goodness and be grateful to Him.
Today, take a moment to thank Allah for a specific blessing, for example by saying 'Alhamdulillah' sincerely.
