Good and Evil: For Yourself

This verse reminds us that every action has personal consequences.

مَنۡ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَسَآءَ فَعَلَيۡهَاۖ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ

Whoever does a good deed - it is for himself; and whoever does evil - it is against the self. Then to your Lord you will be returned.

Quran, Al-Jaathiya 45:15

This verse links each action to its doer: good returns to the one who does it, evil falls back on the one who commits it. It does not promise reward or punishment in this world, but it affirms a clear personal responsibility.

Then, the verse reminds us that we will all be returned to our Lord. This certainty gives meaning to our daily choices: we are not lost in indifference, but our actions matter.

Today, before acting, ask yourself: is this action good for me? Then perform a good deed, even a small one, knowing that you are its first beneficiary.
