يَهْجَعُونَ
This verse describes a habit of Allah's righteous servants.
كَانُواْ قَلِيلٗا مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ مَا يَهۡجَعُونَ
They used to sleep but little of the night.
Quran, Adh-Dhaariyat 51:17
In this passage, Allah speaks of believers who were rewarded with His bounty. Before that, they were doers of good. The verse specifies that they slept little during the night. The following verse adds that in the last hours of the night, they would ask forgiveness. Thus, their night was marked by vigilance and worship. This habit invites us to reflect on our own use of time. We can choose to dedicate part of our night to drawing closer to Allah, even briefly. It does not require great effort, but a sincere intention and some regularity.
Tonight, before sleeping, decide to wake up a bit earlier to invoke Allah and ask for His forgiveness.
