Seeking Forgiveness at Dawn

This verse describes a habit of the believers before dawn.

وَبِٱلۡأَسۡحَارِ هُمۡ يَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ

And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness

Quran, Adh-Dhaariyat 51:18

Verse 18 of Surah Adh-Dhaariyat mentions that the believers ask Allah's forgiveness in the last hours of the night. The previous verse indicates that they sleep little at night, and the following verse mentions that they give from their wealth to the needy. Thus, seeking forgiveness is associated with other acts of devotion.

In our daily lives, we can also choose a quiet time, like before dawn, to turn to Allah and ask for His forgiveness. This time is often peaceful and conducive to reflection.

Tonight, before sleeping, decide to wake up a bit earlier to simply say: 'I ask Allah for forgiveness' (Astaghfirullah), even once.
