سَمِين
Abraham welcomes his guests with a generous meal.
فَجَآءَ بِعِجۡلٖ سَمِينٖ
and came with a fat [roasted] calf.
Quran, Adh-Dhaariyat 51:26
In this verse, Abraham receives visitors. He quietly goes to his family and brings a fat calf. The word 'samīn' describes a well-fed animal, thus a quality dish. Abraham does not choose the simplest; he offers the best of what he has. This attitude invites us to take care in welcoming our relatives and guests. Generosity is not measured by quantity but by attention and effort. Today, we can imitate this beautiful quality by offering our guests the best we have, even modestly.
Prepare today a small attention for a guest or a relative: a careful dish, a fresh drink, or a quality moment.
