لِيَعْبُدُونِ
This verse reminds us of the deep purpose of our existence.
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
Quran, Adh-Dhaariyat 51:56
Allah states that He created jinn and mankind for one purpose: to worship Him. The previous verse encourages reminding, as it benefits believers. The next verse clarifies that Allah does not seek provision from them. Thus, worship is not for His need, but for our own orientation. Worship is not limited to prayer. Every sincere action, like working honestly or helping someone, can become an act of worship if done for Him. Today, we can choose a simple action and perform it with this intention.
Before starting an activity today, say inwardly: 'I do this for Allah' and do it with sincerity.
