تَأْسَوْا
This verse invites us to keep a balanced soul in the face of life's ups and downs.
لِّكَيۡلَا تَأۡسَوۡاْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَفۡرَحُواْ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمۡۗ
so that you do not grieve over what has escaped you, nor exult over what He has given you.
Quran, Al-Hadid 57:23
The previous verse reminds us that every misfortune is already recorded with Allah. Here, Allah teaches us not to grieve over what we lack, nor to take pride in what we possess. He associates these two attitudes to show us the path to serenity. In our daily lives, we often regret the past or boast about our achievements. This verse invites us to moderation: accept what happens and remain humble in our successes.
Today, when you think of a loss or a success, say inwardly: 'Everything comes from Allah' and keep your calm.
