إِيثَار
This verse invites us to a generosity that goes as far as preferring others over ourselves.
وَيُؤۡثِرُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَلَوۡ كَانَ بِهِمۡ خَصَاصَةٞ
and give them preference over themselves, even though they are in privation.
Quran, Al-Hashr 59:9
In this verse, Allah describes believers who love those who emigrate to them and feel no envy for what they have been given. They prefer them over themselves, even when they are in need. This attitude is called īthār: giving priority to others over oneself. In daily life, we can practice īthār by sharing what we have, even if we need it. It could be a meal, time, or valuable help. The key is to do it sincerely, without expecting anything in return.
Today, share something you need with someone else, even if it is small.
