صِدْق
This verse warns us against a serious flaw: saying what we do not do.
أَن تَقُولُواْ مَا لَا تَفۡعَلُونَ
that you say what you do not do
Quran, As-Saff 61:3
Verse 61:3 declares that saying what one does not do is a great abomination in the sight of Allah. The previous verse already posed the question: why say what you do not do? Here, the gravity is emphasized. This calls us to sincerity (sidq): our words should reflect our actions. In our daily lives, we often promise without fulfilling. This verse reminds us to measure our commitments. Before speaking, let us ask ourselves if we are ready to act. Consistency between our words and deeds is a mark of faith.
Today, before making a promise or giving advice, take a moment to check that you are ready to act accordingly.
