فِتْنَة
This verse reminds us that our wealth and children are a trial.
إِنَّمَآ أَمۡوَٰلُكُمۡ وَأَوۡلَٰدُكُمۡ فِتۡنَةٞۚ
Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward.
Quran, At-Taghaabun 64:15
Verse 15 of Surah At-Taghaabun teaches us that our wealth and children are a fitna, meaning a trial. They can distract us from obedience to Allah. The previous verse warns us against them, and the following one invites us to fear Allah and spend for our own good. This trial does not mean these gifts are bad, but they must be used wisely. We must ensure they do not distance us from the immense reward Allah promises to those who fear Him.
Today, take a moment to reflect on a possession or a child that might distract you from your prayers, and take a concrete action to strengthen your faith, such as praying on time.
