نَعْقِلُ
This verse reminds us of the importance of using our reason and heeding warnings.
لَوۡ كُنَّا نَسۡمَعُ أَوۡ نَعۡقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِيٓ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
"If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze."
Quran, Al-Mulk 67:10
In this verse, the inhabitants of Hell regret not having listened to warnings or used their reason. They acknowledge that their straying came from their negligence. The previous verse shows that warners had come to them, but they called them liars. The next verse confirms that they admit their sin. This passage invites us to reflect: do we truly listen to sincere advice? Do we use our intellect to distinguish right from wrong? Every day, we have opportunities to understand and choose the right path.
Today, take a moment to listen carefully to a useful piece of advice and think about how to apply it in your day.
