قَادِرِينَ
This verse warns us against stinginess and the illusion of being able to deprive others.
وَغَدَوۡاْ عَلَىٰ حَرۡدٖ قَٰدِرِينَ
And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able.
Quran, Al-Qalam 68:25
In this passage, owners of a garden decide to prevent the poor from entering it. They rise early, determined and convinced of their control. The verse highlights their false assurance: they believe they can withhold what is not truly theirs. This attitude challenges us: when we possess something, we may be tempted to keep it selfishly. Yet generosity is a valued quality. It frees us from the illusion of ownership and opens our hearts to others.
Today, give something to someone in need, even a simple meal or a smile.
