Humans, created anxious

This verse teaches us that anxiety is part of our nature.

إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا

Indeed, mankind was created anxious.

Quran, Al-Ma'aarij 70:19

Verse 70:19 states that humans are created halu‘, meaning anxious and impatient. The immediate context shows this fragility: when hardship strikes, they despair (70:20). This is not a shameful flaw but a reality of our creation.

Recognizing this tendency helps us avoid harsh self-judgment. We can learn to welcome our emotions without letting them overwhelm us. Self-control becomes a path of patience and trust.
