A Right in Our Wealth

This verse invites us to recognize a specific right in our wealth for those in need.

وَٱلَّذِينَ فِيٓ أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ حَقّٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ

and those within whose wealth is a known right

Quran, Al-Ma'aarij 70:24

Following the previous verses, Allah describes the believers who are constant in prayer. He associates with this constancy another quality: the recognition of a determined right in their wealth. This right is for the petitioner and the deprived, as the next verse clarifies.

Thus, our wealth is not entirely ours. A portion is reserved for those who ask or who are deprived. This notion invites us to organize our generosity in a regular and thoughtful manner.

Today, identify a specific amount (even small) that you will set aside for a person or a cause in need, and give it before the end of the day.
