هُجْر
This verse calls us to firmly distance ourselves from all that is impure.
وَٱلرُّجۡزَ فَٱهۡجُرۡ
And uncleanliness avoid.
Quran, Al-Muddaththir 74:5
In this passage, Allah commands the Prophet ﷺ to purify his garments (verse 4) and then to shun all sin. The word 'hujr' means to distance oneself, to abandon. It is not just about avoiding evil, but actively detaching from it. In our daily lives, this means becoming aware of our bad habits and taking a step to move away from them. It could be a hurtful word, a selfish action, or a negative thought. The key is to choose a concrete action to change.
Identify one impure habit (word, action, or thought) and decide to give it up today, replacing it with a positive action.
