رَهِينَة
This verse reminds us that we are accountable for our choices.
كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ رَهِينَةٌ
Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained.
Quran, Al-Muddaththir 74:38
Verse 38 of Surah Al-Muddaththir states that every soul is held in pledge for what it has earned. This means our actions follow us and determine our outcome. The previous verse mentions the choice to proceed or stay behind, emphasizing our freedom. The next verse mentions an exception, but the main idea remains personal responsibility. In daily life, we can reflect before acting. Every decision, big or small, has weight. We are not judged by appearances but by what we actually do.
Today, before acting, ask yourself: is this action good for me and others? Choose one positive action and do it.
