إِخْسَارُ الْكَيْلِ
This verse warns us against cheating in measures and weights.
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُونَ
But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

Verse 83:3 describes an injustice: giving less than what is due. It follows verse 83:2 which shows that these same people demand full measure when they receive. Thus, the Quran associates two opposite attitudes: demanding everything for oneself and reducing others' share. This lesson goes beyond trade. Whenever we provide a service, work, or a word, we may be tempted to give less than expected. Justice means giving fully what is due, without withholding anything.
Today, in a task or relationship, give exactly what is due, without holding back.
