الغَفُور
This verse reveals two beautiful names of Allah.
وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ
And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,
Quran, Al-Burooj 85:14
In this verse, Allah is described as the Forgiving (al-Ghafūr) and the Affectionate (al-Wadūd). He combines these two qualities: He forgives our sins and He loves us. The previous verse reminds us that He originates creation and repeats it, and the next that He is the Owner of the Throne. Thus, the Almighty is also the One who forgives and loves. Sometimes, after a mistake, we feel far from Allah. But this verse invites us to keep hope: Allah is Forgiving and Affectionate. We can turn to Him with confidence, asking for His forgiveness and seeking His love.
Today, say: 'O Allah, You are Forgiving and Affectionate, forgive me and grant me Your love.'
