مُصَيْطِر
This verse reminds us that no one has authority over another's faith.
لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ
You are not over them a controller.
Quran, Al-Ghaashiya 88:22
In this passage, Allah addresses the Prophet ﷺ to remind him that his mission is to remind, not to compel. The word 'muṣayṭir' refers to one who exercises control or authority. The verse clearly states that no one has such power over another's faith. The following verse mentions those who turn away and disbelieve, suggesting that each person remains free in their response. Thus, our role is to be gentle reminders, without imposing our views.
Today, share a useful word with someone without trying to convince them, then leave them free to reflect.
