Giving and Fearing Allah

This verse links giving with piety.

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

As for he who gives and fears Allah

Quran, Al-Lail 92:5

In this verse, Allah mentions the one who gives and fears Him. The previous verse reminds us that our efforts are diverse. Here, giving and fearing Allah are combined as two connected qualities. The next verse adds faith in the best reward. Thus, generosity is not limited to wealth: it is accompanied by awareness of Allah.

In our daily lives, we can give our time, attention, or resources. Doing so with the awareness that Allah sees our effort makes the act sincere. This helps us stay humble and seek His pleasure.

Today, give something (a smile, help, a donation) with the intention of pleasing Allah.
