إِيتَاءُ الْمَالِ لِلتَّزَكِّي
This verse describes a quality of the righteous: giving one's wealth to purify oneself.
يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ
who gives his wealth to purify himself
Quran, Al-Lail 92:18
Verse 92:18 describes the one who avoids the Fire: he gives his wealth to purify himself. The previous verse (92:17) says the righteous will be kept away from it, and the next (92:19) clarifies that he does not give to receive a favor from anyone. Thus, giving is linked to personal purification. In our daily lives, giving from our wealth – whether money, time, or objects – can help us purify ourselves from excessive attachment to possessions. This is not a command, but an invitation to reflect on our relationship with generosity.
Today, give something (even small) without expecting anything in return, intending to purify yourself.
