Caring for the orphan

This verse teaches us to treat the orphan with gentleness and respect.

فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ

So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].

Quran, Ad-Dhuhaa 93:9

In this verse, Allah commands not to mistreat the orphan. The word 'qahr' implies any form of oppression, harshness, or contempt. The context of the preceding verses reminds that Allah has favored the Prophet, inviting him to gratitude towards the most vulnerable.

Today, we can apply this by being attentive to orphans around us, whether in our family, neighborhood, or community. A simple gesture, a kind word, or concrete support can make a big difference.
