الشُّكْرُ
This verse teaches us that gratitude benefits first the one who gives thanks.
وَمَن يَشۡكُرۡ فَإِنَّمَا يَشۡكُرُ لِنَفۡسِهِۦ
"Whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself"
Quran, Luqman 31:12
Allah gave Luqman wisdom and said, "Be grateful." Then He clarifies that whoever gives thanks does so for his own good. Gratitude adds nothing to Allah, for He is Free of need and Praiseworthy. In daily life, this verse gives a simple direction: recognize a blessing and thank Allah. Qalima proposes an application without further defining the benefit mentioned by the text: name that blessing, then sincerely say, "Alhamdulillah."
Today, identify one concrete blessing and thank Allah for it, realizing that this thanks brings good to you.
