كَظْمُ الْغَيْظِ
The verse brings together restraint of anger, forgiveness, and doing good.
وَٱلۡكَٰظِمِينَ ٱلۡغَيۡظَ وَٱلۡعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِ
who restrain anger and who pardon the people
Quran, Al-Imran 3:134
Allah describes those who spend in ease and hardship, restrain their anger, and pardon other people. The verse places these qualities side by side and ends by stating that Allah loves those who do good. It does not say that anger is never felt; it speaks of restraining it. In an ordinary annoyance, this restraint can begin with a pause before answering. This Qalima synthesis does not turn forgiveness into a demand to deny a wrong. It keeps one simple application: do not let anger choose your first words.
Today, if anger rises, take three slow breaths before choosing your first words.
